We are pleased to announce that we just become a wedding gown drop off location for the Brides Against Breast Cancer event. Brides Against Breast Cancer Nationwide Tour of Gowns is an event that both brides-to-be and new brides can participate in. It is the largest fundraiser for Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation. The Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to granting wishes for stage IV breast cancer patients.

Every year, they go "on the road" to over 40 cities to host their Brides Against Breast Cancer Nationwide Tour of Gowns event. The event gives local brides-to-be the opportunity to find their dream gowns while making wishes come true for breast cancer patients. It is an opportunity for new brides to donate their dresses for a wonderful cause. The brides mail their dresses to the organization throughout the year.

All gowns featured at the events have been donated by famous designers, retailers, manufacturers and individuals. Gown sizes range from 2-28 and are marked down by about 35% to 75%. Prices start at just $99. Couture gowns are also available, some valued at $8,000. Making Memories is currently accepting gown donations from 2005 and newer. Donated gowns can be shipped to the warehouse in Oregon.
Making Memories has granted a number of wishes from trips to Disneyworld, swimming with the dolphins, birthday parties, weddings, tickets to sporting events and camcorders to record last memories.

To attend the event and purchase a dress, the closest one to us at this point is in Milwaukee over April 9th and 10th. To donate a dress either ship it to their warehouse or drop it off at At Your Service Weddings in Minneapolis with $20 for shipping. We will package up your dress and send it for you. Our office is open from 10-4, Monday-Friday. See the Brides Against Breast Cancer website for further information and our Contact page for directions to drop off your gown.

Our New Office!

We are so excited to be in our new office space! Our office is located in the International Market Square building on the west side of downtown Minneapolis. We are on the concourse level next to D'Amico Catering's sales office. We now offer a small selection of vase rental with decor design, invitations to be ordered along with other stationery pieces, and other items to be purchased or ordered like votives, flower girl baskets, guest books, etc. Our inventory is small at this point but will grow with the coming year. If we don't currently have it we can still help you get it!

As always, we offer hourly consulting, semi- and full-service planning, and wedding day management. Also available is the "Out-of-Towner" package for couples that do not currently reside in Minneapolis but are getting married here to help match them up with vendors. Also contact us about our "Wedding Coach" package. It's a great package for the couple that wants to do their own planning but we have a built in monthly meeting to check on the progress and talk about what our clients should do in the next month.

Our new office hours are from 10 am - 4 pm, Monday-Friday. We also offer evening and weekend meetings with an appointment.

Give us a call! Happy planning!

We had another wonderful wedding this past Saturday. Amy and Andrew were beaming throughout the entire day. The reception was held at Calhoun Beach Club which is a spectacular venue. D'Amico Catering did a fabulous job as always. Jenny Bedard was the photographer at this event and she was really great to work with. She brought her own "photo booth" for the guests to have fun with during cocktails. Jennifer and the Ladies at Luna Vinca did an impressive job with the floral. We tag teamed the decor. The bride rented our 28" tall pilsner vases and Luna Vinca designed a floral arrangement to set on the top of the vase with crystals dangling down. We did this to take advantage of the height of the room. Amy also rented our apothecary jars for a candy buffet. The guests kept coming back to refill the monogrammed Chinese take out boxes throughout the night. The entire day was a lot of fun for everyone, including us.

At Your Service Weddings is pleased to announce that we are opening an office in International Market Square. The location should be up and running by December 1st. Make an appointment for a consultation to stop in and see what we can do for you.

Welcome to the new blog! We are very excited to be able to write about all of the adventures in wedding planning.

This past Saturday we had a beautiful wedding at the Chart House in Lakeville. Lora was the Lead Consultant at this wedding. The bride and groom were easy to work with and really enjoyed the day. Of course, there were two really good examples of why a wedding coordinator should be hired for at least the day of the wedding.

Going into rehearsal on Friday Lora discovered that the wedding coordinator at the church had forgotten about this rehearsal and was still on her way to the church for the 5:30 rehearsal. It was now 5:40. There was no time to waste because the rehearsal dinner started 6:30. Lora let the church coordinator know that she was going to start rehearsal and the coordinator could take over when she arrived. The plan worked. Introductions were done, questions about the following day were answered, then the wedding party was lined up at the front of the church when the coordinator walked in. The rehearsal dinner started a few minutes late, but it could have be a lot worse if Lora hadn't been there.

Saturday's wedding went well. It was a lovely ceremony with a festive atmosphere. The Chart House is always a unique and nice location to work at. During pictures, one of the groomsmen decided that it would be fun to climb up the rope connected to the ship that is outside of the restaurant. During this, he split his pants open. You guessed it, his bum was exposed. Luckily it was on the seam and Lora always carries a sewing kit. She sewed up the pants to almost perfect condition. The funny part is that right before he split his pants he said, "I always seem to put a hole in my pants during the dance at weddings". Needless to say he didn't put the pants back on the rest of the night so more damage wouldn't be done.

Thank you to Stacy and Rick for working with At Your Service Weddings. We loved working with you and wish you the best. Look for our post next week regarding this weekends upcoming wedding at Calhoun Beach Club and maybe some pictures from Stacy and Rick's wedding.
